Mr. Shang-Ling Jui is President of SAP Labs China and head of development and support of SAP's "Business One" Solution for small and medium sized businesses worldwide. As president of SAP Labs China Mr. Jui has established SAP Labs China as a world class R&D organization within the SAP global development network, utilizing talented resources and the vast market potential of China.
The development areas under his responsibility are: Development of the Business One Solution, additional Solutions for Small and Medium Size Businesses, Industry Best Practices, Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (Enterprise SOA), Adaptive and Grid Computing, Custom Development and Globalization with currently more than 700 software engineers. With the ongoing further growth of the SAP Labs China operations in the next years, the total number of developers is expected to reach more than 2000 in the year 2008.
Since 2005, Mr. Jui has been teaching as Guest Professor at the School of Software and Microelectronics, Peking University, with a main focus on global software development and ERP solutions.
Recognizing his experience and expertise the European Union has invited Mr. Jui since 2006 as Accreditation Expert of the European judges for Sino-EU Information Technology Cooperation Projects to safeguard and council joint IT projects.
With over 20 years experience in the global software industry, Mr. Jui has worked for SAP in China for over 12 year, previously as Senior Vice President of SAP Greater China. The latter included the responsibility for consulting business in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan with over 200 consultants to provide business and technical consulting to over 500 customers in the region.
Mr. Jui joined SAP AG in 1992 in Walldorf, Germany as a Basis developer and moved in 1993 to SAP Labs North America to work as solution architect for the next generation platform of SAP – SAP R/3.
Before joining SAP, Mr. Jui worked for EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space) AG in Munich, Germany as a system engineer for 2 years. He started his career as a software developer for ThyssenKrupp AG in Dortmund, Germany in 1988.

Abstract: I often meet with policy-makers from different companies to talk about their businesses and IT systems. I find that they always have an intractable issue, i.e. they now need to provide services for the operation of their information systems that served their businesses in the past. Why is this the case? One of the reasons is that they deployed many information systems, it is effort-and-money-consuming to consolidate them, and it will be an inefficient “motley troop” even if they are integrated successfully. The other reason is that the modern business process should be more efficient and flexible to meet the demands of new services in a company, but the miscellaneous systems are not able to make quick response and their costs are considerable. Abstract: Generally the customization will be a part of their requirements whichever companies buy software for their business , even they will require their software provider to make a completely customization for them.
