With the acceleration of China's Informationisation construction and the constant expansion of the ERP software market, other business applications like Customer Relationship Management or Supply Chain Management have evolved to support business processes that span multiple companies and enable a more efficient collaboration with customers, suppliers and partners. However due to very dynamic market forces those value networks and the supporting IT systems have to become more flexible and adaptable to cope with the fast changing social and economic environment.

Consequent to the development in the Chinese IT industry and the increased diversity of our customers' needs SAP Labs China was formally founded in November 2003, building on the experience we have gained the preceding 7 years as the SAP Development Centre China. SAP has always been devoting itself to develop local research and development resources so as to ensure all global SAP solutions can be completely localized and provide our partners and clients with the strongest support on SAP solutions and technology. Based on the excellent skills and broad experience of our employees SAP Labs China plays an important part in SAP's global distributed development network and creates innovative business solutions targeted to meet the unique requirements of the Chinese market.

Since the establishment of SAP Labs China, we were following three glorious missions that all our efforts are targeted on. First, to build up a world leading research institution in China; secondly, to be a leading force to promote the rapid growth of China's business software industry; lastly, to provide more value to our Chinese customers.

In the business application area, the main research and development activities of SAP Labs China are focused on solutions for small and midsize businesses, Strategic Enterprise Management and Human Capital Management solutions. Besides, SAP Labs China is engaged in exploring how innovative technologies can be used to improve the performance of business processes and in exploring platform strategies that considerably lower the total cost of ownership our solutions.

Nowadays, SAP Labs China has become one of the fastest growing SAP branches seeing a growth of its research team from the original 40 to 200. With the construction of our new site in the Shanghai Pudong Software Park, we extend our capacity to 500 in the first stage and will reach 1500 in 2008.

We fully acknowledge that any individual research institution needs to coordinate and collaborate with other institutions to achieve better results. Our efforts are driven by our commitment to quickly identify and meet the ever changing needs of our customers. For these reasons we aim to have an open dialog with our customers and partners to fulfill our mission to be a world leading research institution.

That is why the establishment of the Innovators' Club is one of the cornerstones to the fulfilment of our 3 missions. Since it will serve as a direct Communications platform between SAP Labs China and the Chinese Government, our customers and authoritative institutions in the industry, the Innovator's Club will become our most valuable point for input within the complete development process of our solutions.
