Brief History & Rules
Whether you’re brand new to the SAP Community or have been active here for a while, you’re probably aware that the community is a great place to build reputation and earn recognition for expertise in SAP-related topics. SCN has a long standing Reputation Program devoted to continually improving how topic expertise is acquired and showcased in the community.
An important part of that Reputation Program has been the annual SCN Topic Leader contest. It is designed to highlight the most active experts in certain meaningful topics in our community. To earn the Topic Leader recognition for any year, a community member has to be one of the top three members in a topic space in terms of points earned in that space during a defined contest period, usually of 12 months.
What do the winners of this contest earn? Topic Leaders receive an Acknowledgement of Achievement per e-mail. And of course, they also earn the Topic Leader badge and the points associated for the year. Unfortunately, we have not been able to give Topic Leaders a free pass to SAP TechEd && d-code events. Nevertheless, Topic Leaders who have been able to attend these events in person were given additional recognition for their wonderful achievement and contributions to the SAP Community Network.
Following is a table describing the different Point Thresholds, No. of Topic Leaders, and No. of Spaces for the last three years:
||No. of Topic Leaders
||No. of Spaces|
|2015/2016||320 points (9 month contest period)||209||104|
|2015/2016||320 points (9 month contest period)|
|No. of Topic Leaders|
|No. of Spaces|
Saying Goodbye to the Topic Leader Contest
Please note that the 2015-2016 Topic Leader was the last contest period where we recognize SCN Community Experts through this contest. With the upcoming launch of the new SAP Community, we will be rolling out an “Expertise Score” feature. We believe that this score will be able to more accurately identify our Community topic experts and make them accessible to our wider Community. While we wait for a viable timeframe for this implementation please know that even though expertise score will not be displayed at launch, the activities and behaviors upon which it is based will be tracked as of go-live
