The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) was established in 1996 to provide services around third-party software integration with SAP solutions. Certification Logos
Once the integration has been successfully tested by SAP ICC, SAP provides "SAP Certified" logos to make it more transparent how a third-party solution connects with SAP products.

The "SAP Certified" designation is not liberally awarded. Certified solution providers must put their solution integration through stringent qualification procedures to earn this designation. The SAP Integration and Certification Center tests that integration is based on SAP-endorsed integration technologies before awarding the SAP certified status.

To begin a new software integration certification, or re-certify an existing solution, please complete our application form and provide information about your company and the software application that you want to integrate.
Begin a New Certification

Once your application is submitted and after you’ve signed a certification contract, you are ready to begin the certification process:

  • Preparation. Your dedicated SAP consultant provides you with a test plan. Your engineers prepare the testing under the guidance of this consultant and schedule a certification date.
  • Certification testing. The SAP consultant monitors and logs the test results while your engineer conducts the actual testing, including the integration setup and data exchange.
  • Post-certification. You receive a detailed confidential test report and a certificate that you can use to promote the successful certification to your customers. The solution appears in our online directory within a few days. Certification is valid worldwide.

Certification is valid for three years for most integration scenarios. A few certification scenarios (mobile apps, cloud integrations, or SAP HANA integrations) are only valid for one-year due to the higher frequency of updates.

Software Integration Certification

We will help you secure an SAP certification that verifies the application or solution you’ve developed integrates seamlessly into an SAP environment. All SAP-certified integrations are based on SAP-endorsed integration technologies and stable interfaces that are generally more release-stable, pre-tested by SAP, offer faster implementations and can ensure smoother release upgrades for SAP customers. Software Integration Certification Costs
Certification fees depend on the technology used and scope of testing. Costs typically range from €2,500 (e.g. SAP Fiori apps) to €15,000 (e.g. ABAP add-ons) or €20,000 (e.g. SAP HANA back-up tools). The certification fee includes all necessary consulting and testing services by an SAP ICC consultant. Most certifications are done remotely. These fees do not take into consideration your own development resources, or test system access costs.

How Long it Takes
The certification test itself will take 1 day or less. However, the time it takes to ready your solution for certification can vary. A typical certification based on an SAP pre-defined scenario can be finished within roughly two months. Contact us early on in the development process to consult with us.

What to Expect

Once we have signed a contract to certify the integration, you will be assigned a dedicated consultant by SAP ICC. Your engineers will prepare the testing under the guidance of this consultant, and schedule a certification date. We provide you the test plan ahead of time, so you can prepare your solution.

During any certification test, the SAP consultant monitors and logs the test results, while your engineers drive the actual testing, including the integration set-up and data exchange. Your software remains under your control at all times.

Once the testing is concluded successfully, you will receive a detailed and confidential test report, a certificate, and the appropriate certification logo that you can use to promote the successful certification to your customers. In addition, your fully certified solution will be listed online in our online directory within a few days – giving your company exposure to the thousands of customers that visit SAP.com each day.

Test System Access

If you need remote access to an SAP-maintained system for your testing, you can use the SAP Remote Access and Connectivity (SAP RAC) service. This professionally hosted and maintained landscape of fully configured SAP software systems, including sample data, can simplify the integration testing of your interface to SAP solutions. You can choose between exclusive-use or low-cost shared systems. The cost varies depending on the number of users who need access, the duration access is needed and whether you choose the exclusive use or shared system. Prices start at €3,500.00 for 3 shared systems, with 3 users, for a 3-month period. You can also sign up for longer durations at considerably lower rates.

When developing interface software eligible for SAP integration certification you are required to use SAP-endorsed integration technologies. SAP tests the interface software or connector built by ISV’s and partners for correct implementation of SAP-endorsed technologies and/or stability in an SAP environment depending on the type of certification.

Popular Scenarios

ABAP Add-on Integration
If you are delivering an add-on solution written in the Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP®) language, we provide ongoing support from an SAP Integration and Certification Center consultant, access to the ABAP add-on assembly toolkit, and annual certification.
 
Only third-party ABAP add-ons that conform to SAP standards and conventions for ABAP packaging and deployment are eligible for certification. In general, this relates to all custom ABAP objects, database tables, fields, and data elements must exist within a registered namespace. Please note that you cannot modify SAP software objects such as screens, menus, programs, or function modules or update SAP software tables directly.
 
SAP requires that you use the SAP Add-on Assembly Kit (AAK) to package an ABAP Add-on, and strongly recommends that you use the toolkit throughout the development cycle. Syntax and consistency checks for code are done using the AAK. Additional checks are done by SAP consultants during the certification procedure. The AAK tool is available as part of the ABAP Service Package for third-party ABAP solutions. ABAP add-on certification is available in traditional ERP environments as well as on SAP HANA and for SAP S/4 HANA.

SAP Business One
Add-on Certification
SAP partners and ISVs can develop add-ons for SAP Business One (for SAP HANA or SQL) with the SAP Business One Software Development Kit (SAP Business One SDK). Based on the rules outlined in the test plan for SAP Business One add-on solution certification for SAP HANA, ISVs can develop add-ons to integrate with SAP Business One at the data and/ or user-interface level using the SAP Business One SDK data interface (DI), data interface server (DIS), and user interface (UI) application programming interfaces. Third parties can also use tools provided from SAP HANA, such as the XS engine, to develop objects within SAP HANA.  
 
Certification for SAP Business One Cloud
Targets partner solutions complementing SAP Business One Cloud and running in the cloud landscape. According to the level of compliance of the solution with the SAP Business One Cloud architecture, certifications can be awarded at two levels. Level 1 Compatible – running on cloud. Level 2 Compliant – full integration.

Typically, an integration assessment starts with a kick-off call, where you describe your envisioned integration to one of our SAP experts.
