SAP is dedicated to making a difference – not just for businesses, but for people and the planet too. We develop, support, and collaborate on projects that impact millions of lives for the better: from cancer research, to empowering women and girls in developing countries, to making a positive impact on the environment and in communities around the world.
Make an impact – and make it count
As a company, we work hard to make SAP a better place for our employees – and the world a better place for everyone. We pride ourselves on the dozens of progressive initiatives we’re working on internally, with our customers and partners, and with non-profits. Embark on a career at SAP and participate in our Month of Service, social sabbaticals, and year-round volunteer opportunities and events.
How our teams are changing lives
Fighting ALS in Israel
Volunteers from SAP Labs Israel – in collaboration with Prize4Life – are developing an app to help ALS patients monitor and record the development of their disease. This information, processed by researchers and medical professionals, will be used to help improve patients’ lives.
Crowdsourcing for social causes
ChariTra is a network that lets non-profits post their needs online. Individuals or organizations who want to support a cause can register and make a promise to volunteer time or resources. This unique application was built at SAP Labs India and runs in the cloud.
Spotlight: KickApp Cup
SAP Corporate Social Responsibility and streetfootballworld have teamed up to create the KickApp Cup – a global initiative that connects SAPers and disadvantaged, soccer-loving youth. Working together in small teams, they build app prototypes that support local streetfootballworld projects. Competitions take place at regional cups in Germany, Brazil, the USA, India, Hungary, and Israel. The winners of each region travel to France for an event hosted by the UEFA European Championship.
The KickApp Cup gives youngsters the chance to share their ideas with IT experts from SAP. This experience will expand their horizons and help them start a career in the technology sector.
Through our social sabbatical program, high-performing SAP employees contribute their time and talent to help educational institutions and social entrepreneurs in emerging markets. While maintaining their normal salary and benefits, participants spend four weeks working on team projects locally or in places like Brazil, India, and South Africa. Some of the organizations we work with include:
AhoodooTec, a startup in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that develops Web and mobile apps for secondary school education
Livox, a Brazilian startup that makes accessibility software to help differently-abled people speak and learn
Giving Kenyan farmers a boost
Juhudi Kilimo is a Kenyan company that provides asset loans to unbanked farmers outside of Nairobi. SAP’s Jim Tubman, a senior support consultant, spent a month with Juhudi and documented his time in Africa. Watch this short video to hear all about his social sabbatical experience.
