CATS: Recording Working Times with additional Data

CATS: Recording Working Times with additional Data

This Business Scenario Map shows how employees use the time sheet (CATS) to record their working times with additional data, and how, once it has been approved by the employer, the data is made available for follow-on processes. This prevents working times from being recorded twice and information regarding working times is available inexpensively, quickly, and consistently throughout the enterprise.

CATS: Recording Working Times with additional Data

Information relating to employees working times and activities is used in Controlling and Logistics in the same way as in Human Resources. Unfortunately, multiple time recording is just as common as processes based on paperwork. The cross-application time sheet, which is tailor-made for Employee Self-Service, enables employees to record their working times together with all required additional information easily and at the same time. At any time, the time sheet provides a consistent overview of working times. At the same time, the data recorded here can be used for follow-on processes in different areas of the enterprise.

Employers prepare for the recording of working times by planning employees working times and activities. Employees are provided with information to help them record their working times. This information includes planned working times, in other words target hours and non-working days, and planned activities contained in a worklist.

Employees record their working times together with data that is required for the further processing of recorded working times. For example, data for controlling , for monitoring the progress of projects, billing, payroll, and in the case of external employees, data that is required for invoice verification.   The data refers, for example, to specific types of attendances and absences, work orders, purchase orders, and projects. A broad palette of CATS user interfaces is available to employees when they record working times. For instance, the Web browser user interface for CATS regular or the offline solution CATS notebook.

The system checks the correctness of recorded working times and additional data. A separate release step enables employees to document if, to their knowledge, the data is complete and correct. If necessary, working times can then be approved by the responsible personnel officer or project leader.Incorrect data or data that has not been approved can be corrected at any time and changes remain comprehensive.

The approved working times and relevant additional data is used for diverse business follow-on processes in:

  • Human Resources(Attendances/absences and employee remuneration information)
  • Controlling(internal activity allocation, statistical key figures)
  • Plant Maintenance and Customer Service (confirmations)
  • Project System(confirmations)
  • Materials Management(service entry)
  • Reporting, Business Warehouse
  • Billing
