    •
    Once a product has moved from concept to design, it must then be moved into actual production.  This typically involves a prototyping phase to test alternative manufacturing processes and procedures, and subsequent identification of the optimum processes and procedures for the transition to manufacturing ramp-up and volume production.  Those responsible for product quality must closely monitor this phase of the product's life to assure that the transition to full production results in products which meet the form, fit, function and quality standards expected by the business and its customers.  Companies must also continually look for improvements in the processes associated with getting products to market in order to reduce costs and improve quality to remain competitive in the marketplace.
