    • In this demonstration, you’ll see how the SAP® Accelerated Trade Promotion Planning application – powered by the SAP HANA® platform – can help you budget, plan, and monitor trade promotions more effectively; assign actual daily
    • This enables you to develop effective, highly-tailored trade promotions; improve the accuracy of planned and actual trade spend allocation; and, uncover new promotion opportunities.
    • Sales were down in Sam’s product category last year and his manager has asked him to plan a promotion to increase sales revenue in 2012.
    • He then proceeds to create a new promotion program for 2012.
    • Once his new project is set up, Sam is ready to add more detail, and the first thing he wants to do is specify the target promotion discount for each of his products — and to do that he clicks the Planning link.
    • Sam can close the navigation bar on the left to gain more screen space.
    • Immediately, Sam can see that the promotional discount comes to more than $76,000.00, because the Accelerated Trade Promotion Planning application has applied the $1.00 discount to each of the 76,000+ cases that represent the baseline sales quantity.
    • As before, the Accelerated Trade Promotion Planning application automatically distributes the uplift of 8,000 cases among all the products in the promotion — and Sam can immediately see the effect: the anticipated sales volume increasesto more than 84,000 cases of candy, and the promotional discount increases to nearly $85,000.
    • While we have seen Sam enter the uplift and discount amounts at the total level, the Accelerated Trade Promotion Planning application and SAP HANA automatically push this information deep into the plan.
    • The system automatically distributes the uplift quantity based on the baseline sales data, which in this case is evenly distributed across all products — but Sam can quickly change the values at any level with ease.
    • And, scrolling over, he can see that the promotion discount climbs to more than $85,000.00
    • out different options, simulate different scenarios, and uncover alternative promotion options that could prove even more advantageous to the company.
    • Now, because SAP HANA can present data at the daily level, each department will have a much more accurate and consistent picture of the trade spend, uplift data, and total sales volumes.
    • There, he can see his promotion in context of the broader retailer promotion plan: each peak represents a promotion that Sam has planned and is made up of accurate daily level data.
