COUNTRY EVENTS IN ASIA PACIFIC JAPAN
Country Road Shows
These road shows are conducted in various countries where the country Program Manager can share with
academics more information on the Program. Exchanges of views and comments on schools’ intention on how
to teach SAP to their students, SAP sponsored UA curriculum materials, academic workshops, educational
dataset and the various hosting service packages suited to institutions’ needs.
Since the launch of the Program, SAP has run road shows in China, India, Japan, and Korea.

A total of 18 participants from 11 institutions attended the Beijing road show and 14 participants from 7 institutions attended the Shanghai road show. The most commonly asked topics were the model of cooperation between SAP and UAP members, as well as the hosting services and related fees.
All the institutions are interested in this Program and half of which have proceeded to explore further with the
Program country manager. |

They were very keen to know more about the QUT University Competency Center’s offering of hosting ser vices, and how the hosting service can support the Japanese environment. At the end of the road show, 7 universities are committed to signing up for the hosting service once budget is approved for the following year.

| Summary: |
The UAP road show was held in conjunction with the annual Professor Academy. A total of 18 participants from 12 universities were present. This was the first time the professors experienced the hands-on session on Business One which was their most favorite topic. NamSeoul University has plans to start the
curriculum via QUT UCC’s hosting service during this Fall semester.

Train-The-Trainer (TTT) Workshops
These workshops are specially designed for academics from institutions that are keen to offer SAP
Best Practices in ERP (BPERP) workshops to their students in their campuses. It is a 10-day course
and each new UAP member can send up to two academics to attend the workshop for free but they
have to bear their own travel and living expenses to attend the workshops.

Global IT companies strengthen education programs in the Korean market.
Cisco, Sun Microsystems (SUN), SAP and IBM are expanding on/off-line education in the Korean market.
These companies expect increasing attention from the market through the strengthened education programs.
They also expect heightened business effect in that these programs can nurture people who would use their
products.
SAP launched ‘SAP University Alliances Program’, which provides Korean students with SW technology
information. This program, which started in the U.S. and E.U. in 1998, has joined 2,200 faculty and
150,000 students from 800 universities in 36 countries. SAP supplies trainees with new SW technology and
education through this program.

Abeam Consulting donates a contribution course using SAP ERP at the Graduate School of
Accountancy at Waseda University.
SAP consultants from Abeam consulting will be the instructor with the professors of Waseda University
under the support of SAP Japan. Waseda University is a member of the SAP University Alliances program,
accessing the latest technology information and utilizing SAP solutions in their teaching curriculum.

SAP announced its well established Global University Alliances Program in Thailand with the expectation
to have more than 20 universities participated by year 2010 and will be expanded to more than
