Life-Cycle Data Management

SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM) provides a dynamic, Web-based environment for managing all phases of the product and asset life cycle.

SAP PLM offers integrated product and process management functionality for handling features and requirements, bill-of-materials, routing and resource data, recipes, CAD models, and related technical documentation. Sophisticated product change management spans engineering and design, production, and maintenance management – ensuring consistency of product knowledge.

SAP PLM gives you out-of-the-box integration with a range of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, including:

  • AutoCAD
  • CATIA
  • I-DEAS
  • Pro/Engineer
  • SolidEdge
  • SolidWorks
  • Unigraphics
  • Inventor

It also supports supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) tools, geographic information systems (GIS), and office applications. With open, XML-based interfaces that allow you to communicate with third-party solutions for design and manufacturing simulation.

Plus, SAP PLM gives you control of change management – including claim management and release of engineering changes to manufacturing. For example, you can automatically transfer engineering changes and customer order changes into manufacturing, even for production orders that are already running. So you have unprecedented flexibility to react to last-minute changes.

SAP PLM also includes configuration-management features and functions that support all central logistics processes throughout the product and asset life cycle.
