Business Objects Unveils New Technology Innovations Extending Leadership in On Demand Business Intelligence

Live Data Connectivity and Web Services Provide Access to Information Anywhere

SAN JOSE, Calif. and PARIS - May 2, 2007 - Business Objects (Nasdaq: BOBJ; Euronext Paris ISIN code: FR0004026250 - BOB), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced two key innovations for its on demand solutions, aimed at giving its customers and partners secure, live access to all of their information whether inside or outside the organization.

Business Objects Open Data Connector and Universal Web Services Connector, now generally available, give users access to their data anywhere, inside or outside the firewall, through any on-premise or web-based application. As a result, users will have the accurate, personal, and actionable information they need to make effective decisions, delivered to them in a simpler and more efficient way.

Since the introduction of crystalreports.com in 2006, Business Objects has continued to innovate in the on demand BI space and today holds the leading position with over 40,000 subscribers, significantly more than any other BI company in the industry. Crystalreports.com is the first on demand solution in the BI industry that includes seamless, live connectivity to both on demand and local data sources. Announced today:

Open Data Connector which brings to life reports hosted on crystalreports.com by securely connecting to any local data source, enabling live refresh and scheduling on demand. This innovation means customers can enjoy affordable, easy-to-deploy enterprise reporting, in an on demand model with no additional software to install, and no dependence on IT.

Universal Web Services Connector, which empowers customers and partners to connect Crystal Reports® and crystalreports.com to any web services data source. This allows the Business Objects partner community to integrate Business Objects on demand solutions with their own applications, enabling a wide raft of integrated third-party solutions and mash-ups built on the Business Objects on demand platform.

"We are always looking for ways to empower our managers, allowing them to work 'smarter' not harder," said David Heiss, director of sales operations at OneSource Information Systems, Inc. "I am confident that once our sales managers are able to access the most recent and complete information by leveraging the Business Objects Open Data Connector, they will be able to more accurately and efficiently forecast their business and manage their team's performance. Business Objects has an exceptional product for on demand enterprise reporting."

"One of the biggest challenges facing on demand solution providers is live access to data, regardless of its source or location," said Steve Lucas, vice president of on demand software and services at Business Objects. "Today's announcement shows our continued commitment to innovation and category leadership in on demand as well as business intelligence. Business Objects understands that today's customer expects to get information instantly, no matter where it may reside. A key to reaching this goal is to continue to broaden the connectivity to the everyday information people need. This is a significant step towards delivering a full suite of on demand BI solutions that will allow reporting, query, and analysis on demand."
