SAP, Microsoft, and Accenture to Co-Develop New Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Carbon Benchmarking System

SAP NEWSBYTE - September 24, 2009 - Talking about reducing carbon footprint is important. But how will companies and governments actually achieve measurable progress? To help close the gap between carbon regulations and corporate execution, SAP AG is working with Microsoft and Accenture to develop a cutting-edge, global carbon reporting, benchmarking, and analytics system for the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the world’s largest carbon reporting initiative.

Technology from SAP will allow organizations, investors, governments, and consumers worldwide to more clearly view the carbon footprint of contributing entities and their progress against reduction targets, enabling critical benchmarking.

The new CDP system will incorporate the SAP® BusinessObjects™ Business Intelligence (BI) OnDemand solution to store and deliver carbon disclosure reports and dashboards to users. The system will help make this carbon data more transparent, accurate, and relevant. With the click of a mouse, an easy-to-understand dashboard will allow users to view and analyze data reported to CDP.

Sustainability and reducing the carbon emissions of both SAP and its more than 89,000 global customers is a top-level strategic and operational issue for the company. SAP technology helps customers measure, manage and report carbon emissions from internal operations and across business networks.
