SAP Research Centers
CEC ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
SAP Research's Campus-based Engineering Center (CEC) in Zurich is situated centrally in the city and close to the heart of Switzerland's academic hub – the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). The center was founded in April 2007 as a strategic investment in the collaboration with ETH Zurich, a long-standing partner of great expertise.
The primary goal of CEC Zurich is to conduct application-oriented research in joint projects with academic and research partners, which are drawn from all over Europe. While it generates quality outputs in many domains, the center is providing special expertise in the major area of the "Internet of Things" and "Smart Items." One highlight of the combined efforts, the Future Retail Center (FRC), employs RFID and different sensor and mobile technologies. The FRC, located at the SAP location in Regensdorf and near CEC Zurich, shows a real-world supermarket where a multitude of scenarios concerning retail trade, logistics, and storage of goods can be tested in-vivo or presented live to customers to prove suitability for daily use.
Research Environment – Working with World-Class Researchers
CEC Zurich is embedded in and strongly interwoven with the worldwide network of SAP Research. Internationally, it is currently engaged in EU-projects such as BRIDGE, SOCRADES, and StoP – with twice as many new projects in the works. The close local collaboration of economy and science, qualified partner enterprises, and renowned research institutes pave the way for product innovations, which are of supreme relevance for trade and logistics. In Zurich, the CEC benefits from the proximity to the dynamic knowledge of one of the leading universities in Europe to generate greater value for customers and manufacturers.
