Lying on the estuary of the Chang Jiang (Yangtze) River, Shanghai is regarded as the economic capital of Mainland China. Besides its leading role in economic development, Shanghai also serves as an important cultural, financial, trading, and industrial center of China. Shanghai also has one of the world's busiest ports, and features the largest cargo port in the world.
SRC Shanghai is co-located with SAP Labs, China in Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. In the heart of Pudong, this 25 square km Hi-Tech park is comprised of the Technical Innovation Zone, Hi-Tech Industry Zone, Scientific Research Zone, and Education Zone. The government has identified IC, software, and biomedicine as the leading industries for the park in order to play a leading role in global innovation. With almost 4,300 new enterprises, 91 registered transnational R&D centers, and billions of foreign and local investments, the Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park offers the perfect environment for breakthrough software and services research.
Research Environment – Working with World-Class Researchers
A goal of SRC Shanghai is to leverage the best and most talented people in the region and to globally support the growth of SAP. The diverse research team includes research veterans from prestigious U.S. and Canadian research centers, talented researchers from local research labs, and new Ph.D. graduates from top-ranked universities. SRC Shanghai is aggressively recruiting new talent to build a world-class research center.
A main area of research for SRC Shanghai is service computing – focused on the study of the SaaS platform and applications for on-demand delivery of SAP solutions. We are developing research programs and collaborating in the areas of business information management, business operation management, and business application development to study the needs of service computing.
In addition, SRC Shanghai performs joint research projects with leading universities in China, including Tsinghua, Peking, Zhejiang, Nanjing, Jiaotong and Fudan. With strategic internship programs with both Stanford and Fudan Universities, the center plans to expand its partnerships in academia to prominent universities across the U.S., Asia, and Europe.
