SAP Research Centers
CEC Karlsruhe, Germany
SAP Research's Campus-based Engineering Center (CEC) Karlsruhe is the historic base of SAP Research. The center was founded in 1987 as a strategic investment in collaboration with the Technical University of Karlsruhe. The goal of the institution was and still is to work on joint projects with academic and research partners, including the university's computer science department and institutions such as the Forschungszentrum Informatik (FZI) and the Frauenhofer IITB.
Research Environment – Working with World-Class Researchers
Today, CEC Karlsruhe is one of the most renowned IT research institutions in Europe. It benefits from the proximity to the plentiful intellectual potential of the university and the broader technology region, with more than 2,000 companies in the IT sector. The computer science department in Karlsruhe has been ranked either number one or two in all relevant university rankings.
Close collaboration on research and development in applied telematics with the University of Karlsruhe's Telecooperation Office (TecO), in knowledge management with the Forschungszentrum Informatik (FZI) in Karlsruhe, and in partnerships with selected customers, support an ideal research environment.
Results of the basic research projects move from applied research programs to corporate engineering. Spin-offs such as Particle Computer GmbH that bring research results to market constitute an additional way of realization. Particle, founded in June 2005, deals with a platform for the development and implementation of wireless sensor networks.
