SAP Research Centers
CEC Darmstadt, Germany
SAP Research's Campus-based Engineering Center (CEC) at the Darmstadt University of Technology (TU Darmstadt) was founded in January 2005. Darmstadt, located between the SAP headquarters in Walldorf and the international hub of Frankfurt/Main, has been selected by SAP Research to collaborate more closely with academic partners, research institutions, and industrial partners in the region. This move has been reinforcing SAP's long-standing relationship with researchers at TU Darmstadt – spanning over 20 years – and our strategic interest in their areas of investigation.
The research work focuses on the working environment of the future – an umbrella term for four research areas:
- Knowledge work in dynamic environments
- New models of interaction
- Novel software engineering methods
- Technologies for emerging economies
The goal is to create intelligent software environments within the business context that will react sensitively and adaptively to changes and – offering users many-sided or entirely new services.
Research Environment – Working with World-Class Researchers
CEC Darmstadt is tightly connected to other research centers within SAP and has excellent relations to local research institutions such as Fraunhofer IGD and the Zentrum für Graphische Datenverarbeitung (ZGDV). In addition, a special Ph.D. program has been established where SAP Research and TU Darmstadt closely cooperate with each other.
