SAP Research Centers

CEC Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane OfficesSAP Research's Campus-based Engineering Center (CEC) Brisbane is SAP's first research center in the Asia-Pacific region. Its mission is to leverage Australian and Asia-Pacific expertise in applied technology research and make it available to SAP worldwide. As the first field-based SAP Research location, CEC Brisbane has the advantage of daily interaction with sales and consulting, gaining access to real-life experiences. CEC Brisbane stays in close contact with SAP product groups and has successfully transferred into SAP CRM, SAP NetWeaver, and SAP's application platform.

Research Environment – Working with World-Class Researchers

Striving for research excellence, CEC Brisbane is engaged in various local and international activities contributing to the global success of SAP Research and SAP. Based on a strong co-innovation approach, the center's team is part of a research community of global excellence that collaborates with experts in their fields on various levels – internally with SAP Research Centers and SAP product groups, as well as externally with local small businesses and midsize companies, universities, and government/research bodies.

Strong academic partnerships with universities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region is a main reason for CEC Brisbane's success. Since the late 1990s, the center has been in a trusted relationship with the University of Queensland (UQ) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Research expertise has been pooled in numerous collaborative projects contributing to SAP's strategic objectives and helping our customers implement their vision of the future. SAP Research sponsors scholarships at UQ and QUT, students work on SAP-related topics in the SAP office, and both universities value the partnership with associate professorships of SAP Research staff.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) provides a valuable framework for undertaking collaborative research projects. Success stories include ARC linkage projects with UQ, QUT, Monash University (Melbourne), and the University of New South Wales (Sydney). Apart from Australian partners, CEC Brisbane also teams up with academic and industrial partners from EU projects and foreign universities. Beyond Australia, research in Asia-Pacific is gaining more and more importance as the center that serves as SAP Research's hub for the whole region.
