Diversity Policy and Values

A Strong Foundation of Values

For more than 35 years, SAP has been guided by deeply held corporate values, which have given our company the strength and longevity to help shape the path of our industry and to influence the success of thousands of businesses worldwide.

Our values include customer focus, quality, and the unwavering pursuit of product excellence. In addition, we strongly believe in integrity, commitment, and a passion for ever higher levels of achievement, with the knowledge that our actions today will help define our industry now and in the future. In 2005, we reinforced these six core values with five new corporate requirements: agility, high performance, simplicity, co-innovation, and talent development. These values are reflected in every aspect of our culture, and they continue to guide our efforts to be a best-run business.

To leverage the power of our diverse employee base for the benefit of SAP, we continuously work towards fostering a work environment of respect, trust, and openness where all employees are encouraged to share their diverse competencies, engage their full potential, and generate innovation. Through adherence to these core values and new requirements, we are able to do so.

Equal Employment Opportunities
SAP takes a holistic approach with its overall recruiting efforts, striving at all times to identify and recruit the most diverse pool of qualified candidates for any open position. Each region devotes appropriate resources to ensure that open positions are advertised in a manner designed to reach diverse populations, including ethnic minority media where available. The SAP Global Recruiting Policy is a compilation of all existing human resources policies that regulate the areas of internal and external recruitment.

SAP Global Diversity Policy
Established in August 2006, the SAP Global Diversity Policy provides a framework that supports business processes and procedures by considering, integrating, and leveraging diversity globally. Our diversity policy goes beyond pure legal requirements. For example, one of the business imperatives addresses the efficient and effective cooperation of every team within our global organization based on a common understanding of the company's values and objectives as well as a respectful way of thinking and acting towards each individual.

Global Diversity Office
The Global Diversity Office, with board-level sponsorship by SAP Executive Board member Claus Heinrich, was established in 2006 with a formalized charter to continue expanding diversity efforts and make them sustainable throughout the organization.

Code of Business Conduct
In our continuing commitment to maintain our reputation as a serious, long-term, professional business partner, SAP's
code of business conduct sets that standard for all employees in their interactions with customers, partners, competitors, and vendors. It is part of SAP's business policy to carry out all company activities in accordance with the letter and spirit of applicable legal requirements and therefore keep high standards of business ethics. The Code of Business Conduct for employees goes beyond pure legal requirements – it is how we get business done.
