Dr. Vishal Sikka has been a member of the Executive Board leading the Technology and Innovation Platform area since February 2010.
Vishal's responsibilities include the SAP technology platform and tools to design and deliver the SAP technology portfolio, including SAP NetWeaver and SAP BusinessObjects technologies; developing new technologies and new investment opportunities, including scientific, academic, and customer-driven research; driving the adoption of disruptive technologies and products, as well as developing advanced products from research to early adoption; and ensuring coherence and consistency in architecture and technology following "Timeless Software" principles. Vishal also oversees key technology partnerships and customer co-innovation, and is an executive sponsor of the SAP Labs network.

Prior to being appointed the first CTO of SAP in April 2007, Vishal was the chief software architect at SAP, responsible for the technology and architecture road map and the advanced technology group.
Before joining SAP, Vishal was area vice president for platform technologies at Peregrine Systems, where he was responsible for Peregrine's application platform development, including development tools. Vishal joined Peregrine following the acquisition of his startup Bodha, Inc., where he served as founder and CEO.
Vishal holds a doctorate in computer science from Stanford University in California, and his experience includes research in artificial intelligence, automatic programming, and database and information management technologies at Stanford, at Xerox Palo Alto Labs, and at two startup companies.
